june 24 46 days 26 miles total 1,206 got a little late start this morning. my stomach has its own ideas sometimes. but once on the road i felt like i moved pretty steady. another beautiful day in friendly illinois. finished it all off walking thru downtown rockford. what a cool downtown… especially on a sunday, when there isn’t any traffic. i bid a sad farewell to ace crew mary and lee hasbrough (sp)    Read more…

seed corn

most of the corn i have been passing is feed corn for feeding livestock or making ethanol. today i have seen a lot of seed corn for creating hybrid seeds. two varieties of corn are planted in alternating rows. then when the corn tassels one kind has all the tassels removed by hand. that way the desired hybrid is created. i wonder if i will pass any sweet corn on my journey? laz
