july 23 day 75 27 miles total 1,958 my hopes for the day were not too high. an hour each way to lodging left me with only 12 hours to walk. at the pace i have been going i would only get 24 miles. i was encouraged to get 13 in the first 6 hours. i skipped my break and ate lunch on the move. 26 is under my new goal of 26.2 or better Read more…
july 22 day 74 20 miles total 1,931 as soon as i started i knew there was trouble. not a star was visible but there was lightning dead ahead. after victor congratulated me for finally reaching the drought stricken west i hadn’t even looked at the weather. i underestimated my rain conjuring power. an hour in the rain arrived. i just got in the car. another day of walking with wet feet was a bad Read more…

With 36 hours to go, things were looking pretty Rosy here at volstate. We hadn’t had a dropout in a couple days, and the remaining runners looked to be hurting but steady. I guess someone felt the field deserved a break from the carnage of the first 6 days… But that break ended last night. Just before dark, we got word of a tornado watch encompassing all the remaining portions of the course. Without the Read more…
